The Establishment of Choson Medical Association and its Memorial Photograph Album

Abstract

|
Choson Medical Association(CMA), established in 1911, had assisted Imperial Japan to rule over Korea through the regular conferences and researches on the endemic disease. CMA made an album to celebrate the establishment of itself. This album consists of prefatory mottos, a publication note, a table of contents, a list of CMA members, photographs of the first meeting, Jahye hopitals, general military hospitals, Governor-General Hospital etc,. It includes almost every Japanese doctor´s photograph that worked in Korea around the 1910s, which is a very useful raw material for studying a modern medical history in Korea. The photographs of Jahye and Governor-General Hospital show that they were equipped with modern medical facilities and they were useful tools to propaganda the rule of Japanese Governor-General.
